Different Characters, Different Beginnings in Tales of Xillia

We’ve known for a while that you can choose one of the two main characters to start off with in Tales of Xillia – either Jude or Milla. Now we know, from a chat the producers of the game publicized today, that you’ll see different beginnings to the game based on the character you choose, as well. The main story, however, doesn’t change drastically regardless of character. Let’s just call this Tales of Xillia Origins, shall we?

Also of note is how they came up with the name “Xillia”. It comes from “xillion,” which is a play on the fictitious number zillion, meaning…well…a lot. What I chose to take out of this information, being the eternal optimist, is that “zillion” or their version, “xillion,” is an English pseudo-word. So, because they chose a fake English numerical amount to feature in the title, will they eventually bring the game to the West? That’s probably a huge stretch as of now, since other titles in the franchise, like Tales of Graces, are obviously derived from English words, as well. But, hey, that’s coming out here, right? We can only hope they will follow suit with Tales of Xillia.
