Dirt 5 New Trailer Shows Off New York’s Ice Breaker Racing Events
New York's frozen East River in Dirt 5 seems to be a great racing circuit for Off-Road fans.
Codemasters’ Dirt 5 has recently received a short delay in launch, shifting the game’s release date from early October to early November on all platforms. Today, you can enjoy some new gameplay footage of the game showing off an excitingly competitive race in New York.
Arriving three years after its predecessor, Dirt 5 is going to be the first 9th-gen entry of the series, featuring impressively realistic visuals combined with ray-tracing and running at 120 FPS. However, not all the progression is related to visuals. In the case of gameplay, Dirt 5 is supposed to be the most diverse iteration of the series, featuring up to 12 different racing segments, each one with their own unique car classes, circuits, and locations.
The latest gameplay footage provides a quick look at a race in the Ice Breaker segment, where you have to compete with other veteran drivers on frozen circuits and snowy weather. This particular race shown in the trailer takes place in New York’s frozen East River at the dead of the night. While the trailer has been fully captured from the front-bumper view – and I don’t like it at all – at least it provides a nice opportunity to take a look at how ray-tracing works in the game. With a precise look at the frozen pieces of the race, you can easily spot the reflection of the cars.
Codemasters has apparently invested hugely in the game’s campaign mode, which is going to feature Nolan North and Troy Baker as voice actors. Unlike Dirt 4, It seems Dirt 5 aims to lean a bit towards arcade-style racing rather than being a fully off-road simulation.
Dirt 5 will be available for Xbox One, PS4, Stadia, and PC on November 6. The game will also hit Xbox Series X and S on November 10th as a launch title. The PS5 version will be dropped as soon as the console launches.
