Disc-less Netflix for PS3 Coming This Month

Even though the PS3’s Netflix application has more functionality than the Xbox 360 version (for now), one of the draw back has been that it required a disc to make use of. That all seems to be changing this month. While no date has been announced yet, Sony’s Jeff Rubenstein confirmed on the PlayStation Blog that Netflix will be losing the disc on the PS3 sometime in October. At least, that’s the current plan. This is just one more step in my mind to getting rid of Xbox Live Gold. That’s right, I said it. The PS3 will now be my Netflix console of choice. Go on, call me a fanboy. You know you want to.
