At the Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase on September 17, Nippon Ichi Software revealed Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny on Switch, coming Summer 2021 in the west, and January 28, 2021 in Japan. The PS4 version of Disgaea 6 was confirmed on both the Japanese official site and the Japanese trailer published by NIS shortly after the Nintendo Direct Mini ended.

Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny was teased a few weeks ago by the Japanese company through its usual yearly summer postcards sent to fans. Disgaea 6 has the same character on that postcard as its protagonist, a zombie named Zed. The trailer shows Laharl and Flonne too, meaning the original trio Laharl Etna Flonne will be in Disgaea 6 as well.

Overall, everything looks like typical Disgaea tactical RPG, but with 3D visuals, higher level and damage caps. The game will have different difficulty settings as well. Additional details like new gimmicks specific to this entry should be revealed later on by Nippon Ichi Software.

You can find the announcement trailer below. We have both the English and the Japanese version. Both are dubbed in Japanese, however, the Japanese version doesn't have a narrator talking over the voices, so you can clearly hear some of the characters' seiyuu. Moreover, the narrated parts are instead done by Zed himself, which is much cooler.

The character design is handled by Takehito Harada, and the OST is by Tenpei Sato. Some of the characters were also introduced on the Japanese official site with artwork and screenshots, included below.

Disgaea 6 will also receive a limited edition in Japan:

The limited edition includes the usual stuff, with an artbook and an OST CD. First print copies will also include bonus costumes for Zed and Piiko (The purple loli and Zed's little sister), a booklet, and a code to use on the mobile gacha game Disgaea RPG.

NIS America is handling the game's western localization needless to say. Disgaea is definitely a cool series and it's nice to see it finally get a brand new console entry.
