If you're a huge Disgaea fan then you should have heard of Disgaea D2: a direct sequel to the original Disgaea game (and, most importantly, not Disgaea 5 for you hopeful Doods out there). If you haven't heard, Disgaea D2 is developer Nippon Ichi Software's way of celebrating the 10th anniversary of the first Disgaea game, along with a new story and new characters. Disgaea D2 is as much a celebration for fans as it is an initiation for newcomers, and with that in mind some new screenshots and information have been released detailing how Disgaea D2 plays.

Disgaea D2 plays pretty much like every Disgaea you've played before. It's a Tactics TRPG that incorporates a huge variety of demon classes that players can customize through weapons, items, abilities, power tiers, and elemental alignment. Disgaea D2's confirmed classes so far include pretty much all of the previous classes of the series, including the Heavy Knight, Samurai, Ninja, Magic Knight, Dragon, and of course, the Prinny. Characters can be reincarnated into different classes to combine abilities as well, making beings with multiple skills and attributes to utilize in battles.

A new Piggyback system will be available in the game, where humanoid characters can ride on top of more monstrous creatures. How much the characters like each other will affect their stats and their overall effectiveness on the field, as well as determine if the characters can do a powerful Collaboration ability, so choosing who goes on who will be incredibly important.

You can see screenshots of the character classes, Piggyback system, and Disgaea D2 battles below. While the game is set to release in March 20, 2013 on the PS3 in Japan, we have yet to secure a Western release, but with NIS's history, there's no doubt that Disgaea D2 will be releasing on Western shores.
