Coming from Marcus Lehto, co-creator of the Halo series, the upcoming sci-fi first-person shooter Disintegration has a legacy behind it that makes it worth keeping an eye on. Blending together elements of first-person shooters and strategy games, Disintegration will be ready to bring players into battle with its launch next month.

Publisher Private Division has announced that Disintegration will officially be releasing for consoles and PC on June 16, 2020 for $49.99, with pre-orders live now on Xbox One and Steam (and coming soon for PS4). Alongside the confirmation of the game's release date, developer V1 Interactive also shared a new story trailer that gives a look at the game's single-player campaign, the characters you'll meet, and the game's futuristic setting.

The story of Disintegration follows the story of Romer Shoal, an expert gravcycle pilot who leads a band of outlaws to push back against the forces of Rayonne, a militaristic force. Taking place in a world that's been ravaged by dwindling resources and a failing planet, the single-player campaign of Disintegration dives deeper into Shoal's story as he brings together these resistance forces and try to fight back against Rayonne.

From what we played of the game so far, Disintegration seems like it has the chance to take first-person shooters into an interesting direction with its integration of more strategical combat. Cameron Hawkins shared his own impressions of the game's multiplayer from PAX West last year, while Otto Kratky previewed a few hours from the game's single-player campaign and came away impressed by the experience. We also had the chance to interview V1 Interactive president and creative director Marcus Lehto to learn more insights from him on the direction of the upcoming shooter. Having played the game myself at PAX East this year, Disintegration definitely seems to have interesting concepts and ideas, with only a little over a month left until it debuts.

Disintegration will release for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on June 16, 2020.
