Walt Disney has acquired the Youtube network Maker Studios for $500 million, with additional performance payouts potentially bringing deal up to $950M  the company has announced.

Maker Studios is the company behind many of the most popular Youtubers, including names like TotalBiscuit, PewDiePie and Yogscast.

CEO of Disney Bob Iger noted that Maker Studio has a massive presence on Youtube, with a total of  380 million subscribers, and 5.5 billion monthly views across 5000 channels.

This size, Iger says, means that Disney obtains "advanced technology and business intelligence," from the deal.
