To celebrate the launch of Disney Epic Mickey, the new Disney Store in New York City hosted a grand event for fans of the game to enjoy. November 30, 2010 marked the official release of the highly anticipated game, and eager fans could not wait to grab their copies to pop into their Wii. Doors opened as early as 7:00 am, and fun went underway.

Disney Epic Mickey creative director, Warren Spector came out to meet and greet fans as they picked up their copies of the game. A fair share of autographs were also given, and one person even brought in their copy of Deus Ex. To all those who have picked up the game, Spector makes the following statement:

"I hope that their enjoyment of the game matches the enjoyment and commitment the team had making the game. I guess there is no real way to communicate that [to the fans], but I think that it is important to know the team's commitment."

When asked why New York City for such a momentous occasion, Spector responded that outside of this store being the flagship store outside of the Disney parks, that New York is where he and his family are from. Even his 89 year old mother was there to celebrate the release of Disney Epic Mickey. He also shared that Mickey's roots are found in New York City. On September 18, 1928, Mickey made his on-screen debut at the Colony Theater in New York City. All these factors made it ideal to have the event held no where else but here.

Artists who worked on the game from Junction Point were also on the scene to show off their talent. It is a little hard to see the quality of the sketches with the video above, but check out the gallery below for a better look at the amazing sketches that were being made right in front of fans.

Cory in the House star, Kyle Massey (left) and Dancing with the Stars season 11 winner, Jennifer Grey (right) also came out to sign copies of the game and take photos with fans. On top of all that, T-shirts, posters and giant plush Mickey gloves were also given out for fans to take home as souvenirs. Those at Disney Interactive Studios really went all out to celebrate the launch of a pretty Epic game; Disney Epic Mickey that is. Check out the rest of the fun and photos below, and look out for the game's review soon.
