A games-specific showcase for Disney and Marvel properties is coming on September 9th, as recently announced by the two studios. It will be part of this year's D23 Expo, the bi-annual Disney fan convention that's being held for the first time since 2019.

The D23 Expo always features a wide variety of events, like costume contests and guest star panels, but they also give exclusive first looks at upcoming Disney content, from movies to theme park rides, to video games, and more. Though a lot of the D23 Expo fun is only for the in-person attendants, this Disney and Marvel Games showcase will be streamable via Twitch and YouTube for the whole world to see.

This live stream will begin at 1PM PT (4PM ET) and will reportedly feature "reveals, announcements, and trailers for new and upcoming games." Though no information was given regarding the presentation's length, their press release did reveal some of the games that will appear. Firstly, they stated that there will be "new content" from games of multiple properties, such as Disney & Pixar Games, Marvel Games, Lucasfilm Games, and 20th Century Games.

They also make a point to confirm there will be "all-new announcements", as well as reveals for already-known games like Marvel's Midnight Suns, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, and Disney Dreamlight Valley. Finally, they specifically mention a sneak peek at the upcoming Marvel ensemble game from Skydance New Media. The trailer seen above also shows a snippet of the Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, the open-world game in development at Ubisoft.

Though what's most notable here will vary by the individual, footage of the Skydance game is undoubtedly a big deal. This was described by Skydance as a Triple-A blockbuster action-adventure game, and it is being helmed by Amy Hennig, the acclaimed games writer and director most known for leading the original trilogy of Uncharted games. However, nothing else is known about it beyond this general description, so this may be when we get a more specific notion of what type of game this will be.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga released back in April 2022, so if it's is going to be part of this presentation, it would seem as though DLC content is planned for the announcement. The game was a commercial success, selling over 5 million copies in less than 3 months, so future DLC content makes sense from a business perspective. Since the base campaign covers all 9 mainline movies, TT Games would likely have to pull from one of Star Wars' various spin-off stories like Rogue One or The Mandalorian.
