In the months after Disney's purchase of 20th Century Fox officially went through, parts of Fox such as FOX 2000 have been shut down. Now in a report by Bloomberg, Disney may be selling off Fox's games division FoxNext.

Senior executives such as Kevin Mayer, Disney's chief of direct-t0-consumer, has discussed keeping the games division, but CEO Bog Iger wants to exit the games industry and license properties out to other studios instead. This falls in line with Disney letting EA publish Star Wars games for the next ten years. The main Star Wars games to come from EA include Star Wars: Battlefront, Battlefront II, and the upcoming Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Additionally, Disney shut down their popular Disney Infinity game and its developer Avalanche Software.

FoxNext focused on free-to-play mobile games such as Marvel Strike Force. Additionally, they have games in development based on the Avatar and Alien franchises. It's unclear if any of their games in development will be canceled or if they'll move to another developer. As for Marvel Strike Force, Venturebeat reports that the game made $15o million dollars during its first year.

During Disney's financial call in February, Iger discussed Disney's stance on the games industry and why they've stayed away from it. "We're obviously mindful of the size of that business but over the years we've tried our hand at self-publishing...and we've found that we haven't been particularly good at the self-publishing side," Iger said.
