The rumor that a Devil May Cry HD collection for an HD console would be released this year started back in February, when someone claiming to be an industry insider confirmed the creation of the collection, for both the Xbox 360 and PS3. Obviously, a confirmation from someone with no name or face shouldn’t be taken very seriously, but now the rumor has resurfaced and this time it sounds a lot more legit.
Although the confirmation still comes by way of some mysterious source, a key detail makes this time different: E3. The source claims that a big, bold reveal is coming at next month’s show and that the release is to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the DMC series, which debuted on the PS2 in October of 2001. This suggests a similar release date for this collection, if it is real.
It should also be noted that this source says that the release will be PS3 exclusive and not also on the Xbox 360, which seems more likely if you look at the history of releases like this. It will all hit the fan at E3 next week, when we’ll find out if a DMC HD collection is coming once and for all. Stay tuned for full coverage of the event.
