A VR game based on the cultural phenomenon Doctor Who is coming later this year. Putting you in the shoes of one of the Doctor's companions, you will be trying to save the Doctor. This game will have in the incarnation of the newest Doctor portrayed by Jodie Whittaker.

Armed with the Doctor's trusty tool, the Sonic Screwdriver, players progress through the game and solve puzzles. IGN was able to play a demo of the game and highlighted one such puzzle where players have to "use the Screwdriver to make a DIY transponder that summoned the TARDIS." Additionally, IGN was told that this game is of "feature-length." While that does not give us a specific length, as a Whovian myself this gets me very excited.

With the announcement of the game was a teaser trailer. The trailer was ominous, teasing the appearances of well-known villains of the sci-fi series like the Daleks and the Weeping Angels. For those that aren't well versed in Doctor Who ,the Weeping Angels are statues that can only move when you aren't looking at them so seeing them incorporated in a VR game is pure genius. The trailer also teased an unknown creature to the series which looked like a big blob with eyes in random spots.

From what I have seen this has the potential to be the best Doctor Who video game experience we have received. A cool concept that on paper should work great in VR. You can watch the announcement trailer for the game below. Doctor Who: The Edge of Time VR is releasing in September later this year on PlayStation VR, Steam VR, Oculus and Vive.
