Doctor Who: The Edge of Time Finally Hits VR Platforms Next Month
Doctor Who: The Edge of Time will release for HTC Vive, HTC Vive Cosmos, Oculus Quest, Oculus Rift, and PlayStation VR on November 12.
Maze Theory, PlayStack and BBC unveiled Doctor Who: The Edge of Time, a VR experience based on the popular British series, back in May. While we saw gameplay in June and the game was slated for a September release, it missed that date. Today, the trio revealed that we can finally expect Doctor Who: The Edge of Time to release for most VR platformers on November 12, 2019.
Doctor Who: The Edge of Time mainly pits Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor against the classic Weeping Angels, but is also supposed to contain a lot of other references and callbacks to the series. Specifically, the developer highlighted how players are armed with the Sonic Screwdriver and can use it to solve puzzles and complete other objectives as well as how players will actually be able to pilot a Dalek shell at one point.
As it is written by Gavin Collinson, an author with experience writing Doctor Who novels, it does seem like this game will be quite fun for avid fans of this long-running series. It is worth noting that PlayStack is calling Doctor Who: The Edge of Time a “feature-length VR videogame” so it will likely be a shorter single-player experience like most VR games rather than a sprawling Doctor Who adventure.
