Last year, Doctor Who: The Edge of Time launched as a VR-experience. A year later, and today it was announced that it has been reimagined in an upcoming console and PC launch titled, Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality. Alongside that is another game specifically for mobile devices, including the Nintendo Switch, and is called Doctor Who: The Lonely Assassins.

The game is being developed by Kaigan Games, who has previously released Simulacra, a horror game in which the player has to navigate through a missing woman's mobile phone. The studio's Doctor Who game will be taking a similar approach as players find a phone and have to solve puzzles and unravel a series of events that are taking place at Wester Drumlins. Those into Doctor Who lore may recognize this location from the Blink episode which includes those Weeping Angels.

Players will get to explore the phone with Petronella Osgood and other characters from the Doctor Who universe. It seems as if these characters will communicate with the player through both text messages and phone calls. Meanwhile, gameplay involves trying to navigate through browsers, lock screens, and more.

The teaser, available to view above, shows a small snippet of what players can expect to see on their devices. It seems to have a strong focus on being on an iOS or Android, but it is also to be heading to the Nintendo Switch as well. When it does launch for those devices, it'll be sometime alongside the newly announced PC game, so you can expect Doctor Who: The Lonely Assassins to be available in Spring 2021.
