What Is Crossplay and Cross-Progression?

Crossplay is a popular gaming function that allows users on separate platforms to play the same game together. For example, one friend may own a copy of Call of Duty on PC, whilst their friend owns a copy on PlayStation 5. If crossplay is enabled, the two will be able to play in the same multiplayer games together.

Certain games permanently enable crossplay, while others give the user the ability to toggle the feature on and off. So if you only want to matched with other players on the same console, you can keep this feature off.

Cross-progression is a differnet feature, which is not to be confused with crossplay. If a game supports cross-progression, this means that users can take their progress to a different platform. For example, if you rank up to level 55 in Call of Duty on PlayStation, then move over to PC, this progress will be carried over.

Does Call of Duty: Vanguard Have Crossplay and Cross-Progression?

Call of Duty: Vanguard will have both crossplay and cross-progression at launch.

Crossplay can be enabled or disabled in the settings from the Multiplayer menu, so if you want to play with friends on another platform, you’ll need to ensure it’s enabled.

Call of Duty: Vanguard will also support cross-progression, so if you own the game on two different platforms, your progress will be carried over. However, you need to be signed into the same Activision account on both platforms for this to work.
