In the third season, Eleven lost her powers after the battle against the Mind Flayer. Well, that's how things stay with the character in Stranger Things Season 4, Volume 1. In fact, the big focus of the latest season was Eleven trying to find a purpose in her life without any supernatural abilities. So, every fan is eager to know if Jane Hopper does get her powers back.

Eleven indeed had a difficult time after losing Hopper, and she didn't exactly make a lot of friends in California. On top of that, her relationship with Mike got complicated. So, when Eleven got the opportunity to get powers back through the Nina project, she couldn't simply walk away. On top of that, Eleven knew that she needed her powers to save Hawkins and maybe the rest of the world. However, restoring her abilities wasn't like a high school lecture, as Eleven had to remember every traumatic incident from her childhood.

With the help of Owens and Brenner, Eleven remembers the events that happened all those years ago. Much like the outside world, children in the facility bullied Eleven for being different. However, it wasn't Eleven who killed everyone in the Hawkins lab.

In the lab, Peter Ballard was the only person who loved Eleven for what she truly was. For several episodes, we saw Peter as one of the lab staff members who took a liking to Eleven. He guided Eleven at every step so she could grow her powers, and he gave the girl an opportunity to escape the facility. However, Eleven chose to help Peter by removing a tracking pill from her neck.

Well, it turns out Peter was, in fact, the first test subject for Brenner. Shockingly, Peter had the powers before he arrived at the lab, and Brenner used his blood to create other kids with abilities, including Eleven. Well, with the pill removed from his neck, Peter gets the powers back, and he promises to help Eleven. However, he instantly goes on a rampage and kills every person in the facility, so it turns out his powers were suppressed for a good reason.

For some twisted logic, Peter gives Eleven a chance to join him in destroying the world. As expected, Eleven decides to fight Peter, which was obviously a crazy thing to do because, you know, he is the source of Eleven's powers.

Eleven Finds the "Trigger" for Her Powers

In almost every interaction, Peter told Eleven to use a sad memory from her past to trigger her powers. Apparently, that's what Peter does to control his abilities. Eleven tries to do the same, but she almost loses the fight against Peter. Then, in her final moments, Eleven thinks of a good memory, and she sees her mother's face. Well, she uses that memory as a trigger and pushes Peter to the 'Upside Down' while opening a gate, of course. So, Yes! Peter does indeed become Vecna in Stranger Things. Also, it turns out that it was Eleven's fight with Peter that started this whole thing all those years back. Eleven just decided to forget this traumatic experience.

Anyway, while Eleven is reliving the past events, Brenner, in the real world, confirms that "it's happening." So, it's pretty clear that the Doctor is indicating that Eleven is getting her powers back. And since she now knows the source of her powers, Eleven will come out stronger than ever. She has defeated Vecna before, and only she can do it again.
