Fans have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of Amazon Game Studio's new MMO RPG, New World, for quite some time now. Thankfully, the wait is finally over as New World is releasing around the world today (September 28).

Many New World fans had the opportunity to get hands-on with the game during Alphas and Betas, but for those that didn't, they may be wondering if there is built-in controller support.

If the deciding factor of purchasing New World comes down to the game's support of gamepad controllers, then here's what you need to know.

Does New World Have Controller Support On PC?

The answer to this question is a little complicated. In short, no, players can't just plug in a controller and play New World with it.

Back in March, the developers replied to a fan on Twitter informing them that controller support would be coming with the game's full release. However, they quickly backtracked a few months later by stating that they have no plans for gamepad support on launch.

However, they did go on to state that all of the game's inputs are re-bindable and are compatible with most accessibility control devices. So technically speaking, you could go through and rebind every single input to a controller, if you were willing to spend the time doing so.

There are also plenty of 3rd party softwares available for download that will allow you to use a controller on New World. But unfortunately, the feature is not supported natively in the game.
