The world is finally about to get its hands on Battlefield 2042 as part of the game's Early Access and Open Beta weekend, but will you be able to play with your friends via crossplay during the beta?

Although the full release of Battlefield 2042 was pushed back by a whole month, the Beta is still set to go ahead from October 6th to October 9th.

Originally slated for an October 22nd release date, EA and DICE were recently forced to make the tough decision to delay Battlefield 2042 until November 19th.

The decision was reportedly due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic taking its toll on the development process, but many question if the November 19th release date was a wise decision. As many FPS fans will know, Call of Duty: Vanguard is set to release on November 5th followed by the release of Halo: Infinite on December 8th, making for some steep competition.

But nevertheless, the Battlefield 2042 Beta is almost here, and fans are eager to know if they'll be able to play with their friends on different platforms via crossplay.

Will The Battlefield 2042 Beta Have Crossplay?

According to a Battlefield 2042 PR Rep who spoke to ScreenRant, the Battlefield 2042 Early Access and Open Beta will feature some form of crossplay, but crossplay with parties will be disabled.

This is sad news for those looking to play with friends or family on different platforms, but there is some good news. The full release of Battlefield 2042 will feature full crossplay when it arrives this November.

The PR Rep also confirmed that the full release of Battlefield 2042 would not feature cross-gen crossplay, which means those on PC and Next-Gen consoles won't be able to play with anyone on a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One.

This comes down to the fact that there are certain hardware limitations when it comes to the older consoles, and Battlefield 2042 will have a slightly different version for them.

If you plan on picking up Battlefield 2042 on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, you will only be placed into multiplayer games with a total of 64 players, whereas next-gen and PC will see lobbies with a massive 128 players.
