Does The Witcher Season 3 Have an Official Release Date?

Season 2 is now available with eight new episodes on Netflix.

December 17, 2021

Netflix recently released Season 2 of The Witcher, and after watching the new episodes, fans wonder when they’ll get the third season of the Netflix series.

The Witcher is probably one of the biggest Netflix projects, thanks to the already existing popularity of the franchise because of CD Projekt Red’s video games. The streaming platform dropped the first season back in 2019, and as expected, the show broke all records.

Now, Geralt, Ciri, and Yennefer are back on our screens with eight new episodes. However, The Witcher fanatics have already binged-watched all episodes, and now, everyone’s looking forward to Season 3.

Is The Witcher Season 3 officially Confirmed?

Interestingly, Netflix confirmed Season 3 of The Witcher in September 2021, implying that the studio is wholeheartedly committed to the project.

It’s been a few hours since Season 2’s release, and the show is currently sitting at a 88% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. So, considering the positive reviews around Season 2, it’s safe to say that Netflix’s faith in the project isn’t misplaced.

Is There a Release Window for The Witcher Season 3?

Unfortunately, Netflix hasn’t confirmed a possible release window for The Witcher Season 3 as of yet. However, we can make an educated guess based on the production of Season 2.

Apparently, the filming for Season 2 began in early 2020, only a couple of months after the show’s renewal. However, the production was interrupted twice because of COVID-19, and the studio wrapped the filming in April 2021.

Now, according to Digital Spy, the writers for The Witcher are already hard at work on the script of Season 3. Along with that, some reports suggest that the studio will begin filming the new season in early 2022.

So, if we don’t take any unforeseen delays into account, Season 3 of The Witcher might arrive in early 2023, and if we are lucky, the release could be in late 2022.
