Don’t Hold Your Breath Alert: SquareEnix’s TGS Lineup Doesn’t Include Final Fantasy Versus XIII

I know, I know. We keep screaming for more details on Versus XIII and, as if they’re some sort of evil empire, SquareEnix keeps leading us on, ripping our still beating hearts from our chests, tossing them in the dirt and trampling them down with their dictatorial feet. At this rate, I predict we’ll see Versus XIII in 2015 at the very earliest. I hope no one is holding their breath.

So it is true, SquareEnix is not bringing Final Fantasy Versus XIII to the Tokyo Game Show. What they are bringing, however, is just about every other Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts title known to exist – Final Fantasy XIII-2, Final Fantasy Type-0, Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream, Drop, Distance.

For those of you interested in the Kingdom Hearts franchise, director Tetsuya Nomura said that Kingdom Hearts 3D is at the level of a full console release. There are also the rumblings of some sort of “HD technical test” for the Kingdom Hearts franchise for its 10th anniversary next year (read: HD remakes, most likely). Perhaps that will satisfy since SquareEnix is obviously unwilling to spill the goods on Final Fantasy Versus XIII in our lifetime.
