Don Mattrick About to Leave Microsoft to Take Top Role at Zynga

on July 1, 2013 1:03 PM

As reported a couple weeks ago, big changes are going on at Microsoft, and Interactive Entertainment Business President Don Mattrick is part of those changes, or better he might not be part of them anymore. According to “sources close to the situation” cited by All Things Digital, the controversial executive is about to leave the company, and it could happen as soon as today after the market closes.

According to the sources Mattrick may be leaving in order to find a new top role at Zynga, possibly as “top” as CEO.

Said sources say that it could actually be a big blow for Microsoft, that would find itself in the predicament of having to find a replacement on the fly and unexpectedly, while previous reports stated that Mattrick’s role was actually about to be made more relevant.

Maybe it’s just me, but I feel that considering some of his most recent outings, Zynga could be a much more appropriate workplace for Mattrick.
