Originally released back in 2014, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze brought players back into Donkey Kong Country on the Wii U, and now those looking for a return to adventuring with the Kong family can do just that with the upcoming Switch version heading to the system this spring.

During today's Nintendo Direct Mini, Nintendo announced that Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze will be heading to the Nintendo Switch on May 4th, 2018 and bringing over the acclaimed platformer to the system.

While the new version of the game for Switch will largely be a port of the Wii U version, the Switch version of Tropical Freeze will also pack in a few new features. Specifically, a new mode featuring Funky Kong will be available as a new "beginner-friendly mode" where players can hover, perform infinite rolls and underwater corkscrews, double jump, and more to make the game more approachable for new players.

In addition to the new mode, the Switch version will also provide local co-op multiplayer with each of the Switch's Joy-Con controllers, making the experience of playing the game co-operatively (and on the go) that much easier.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze will arrive for the Nintendo Switch on May 4th, 2018. For more on the game, you can read our original review of it from the Wii U version.
