The Danganronpa series has many dangerous surprises presented throughout each of the titles. The mastermind behind these unexpected hindrances is usually no other than the series' antagonist, Monokuma.

Players have been drawn to the two toned bear since he was first introduced in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. Since then he has been a staple for despair throughout the the entire series.

In an interview with NISA Europe, the team had the chance to ask Danganronpa creator and sound designer Kazutaka Kodaka if he would ever create a game where Monokuma is the main character or protagonist, and players will be able to play as Monokuma?

Kodaka-san replied, "I don’t want any other players to control Monokuma, I want to be the one to control Monokuma." and added, "Monokuma is my creation."

It was explained that Monokuma is a complicated character and was created based off of Kodaka-san's own feelings. This insures that people can't read if Monokuma will be nice or evil and that he's very unpredictable. So in theory, it might actually feel out of character for Monokuma to be controlled by anyone else.

Kodaka-san followed up his answer by saying, "When I create characters, I don’t really go into detail about how they are going to talk or how they are going to act, so when the final creation comes out, I’m sometimes surprised by the outcome myself."

It looks like players wanting to take control and wreak havoc on unsuspecting victims as Monokuma won't be happening, but perhaps that's a good thing.

In case you missed it, NISA's localization team recently explained how they approached Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony's translation.

Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony will launch on PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and PC in North America on September 26 and Europe on September 29.
