Today, Bethesda Softworks has unveiled that a 4K resolution update for the 2016 first-person shooter DOOM will arrive on PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X very soon.

According to the publisher, nearly two years after its initial launch, id Software's first-person shooter DOOM will finally receive an update allowing PS4 Pro and Xbox One X owners to run the game in 4K resolution tomorrow. Initially released on May 13, 2016, for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, DOOM 2016 is the fourth entry in the main series, a reboot of the entire franchise as well as the first significant installment since 2004's DOOM 3.

In DOOM players once again control an unnamed space marine (often regarded as the 'DOOM Slayer') as he fends off hordes of demonic entities from hell that has been wrecking havoc in a facility located on Mars. Since its launch, DOOM has been ported two additional times, with the first port releasing on November 10 for the Nintendo Switch as well as a virtual reality adaption for the HTC Vive, PlayStation VR, and Windows Mixed Reality headsets that launched on December 1, 2017.
