Doom Eternal E3 2019 Trailer Gets a Demake Courtesy of Skilled YouTuber
DOOM Eternal's stunning E3 2019 trailer has been remade in the DOOM II engine. The resulting demake is tons of fun and very impressive.
If you were spending your Sunday afternoon wondering what DOOM Eternal‘s E3 trailer would look like if it was made in DOOM II, then YouTube has you covered. User Szczebrzeszyniarz Brzeczyszczyczmoszyski (SB for my finger’s sake) has recreated the trailer in the old engine and it looks awesome. Give it a watch below.
SB used a number of different mods and maps to make this impressive trailer. I especially love the cameos from other id properties like Commander Keen. There’s also a few pan-around shots of DOOM Guy that look super weird but work for me.
To really appreciate what he’s done here, SB also released a side-by-side version so you can easily compare his work to the E3 trailer. You’ll find it below and it too is well worth a watch. Seeing the different ways he gets around the limitations of the older game demonstrates just how well done this trailer is.
DOOM Eternal made quite the impression on our staff this E3. It took home Game of the Show after a hotly contested debate. It’s great to see that it’s having a similar impact in the community. When people are putting this much work into fan creations before the game even drops, you know their anticipation and excitement is at a fever pitch. We’ll know in a few months if id Software can deliver on the impressive gameplay they’ve shown thus far.
DOOM Eternal is coming to Google Stadia, Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One on November 22.
