The first portion of the two-part DLC pack for DOOM Eternal: The Ancient Gods is set to launch next week, and while we haven't seen a ton of the add-on content in action, we do know that the base game's composer, Mick Gordon, won't be working on the soundtrack this time around. Fortunately, it doesn't seem like the iconic music that has long been tied to DOOM will be skipping a beat in his absence.Over on Twitter recently, DOOM Eternal: The Ancient Gods composes Andrew Hulshult and David Levy gave us a taste of what we should expect from the music found in the DLC. In an interaction with the official DOOM account, Hulshult posted a video that featured himself playing some gnarly guitar riffs that were then overlayed on top of some new gameplay footage from The Ancient Gods.

Levy soon followed after and posted a more extended video, this time instead of honing in on the percussion and keyboard work that will be found in the score. Both video snippets together sounded phenomenal in their own right, and only served to remind me why I love this game so much in the first place.

While I know a lot of fans will be upset that Gordon isn't contributing to this score for The Ancient Gods, I'm honestly thrilled to see what Hulshult and Levy will bring to the table. I think it's important to switch gears every now and then, and based on these two clips, I am that much more interested in seeing how the full soundtrack turns out.

DOOM Eternal: The Ancient Gods - Part 1 is set to drop next week on October 20 and will be coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Additionally, DOOM Eternal itself is available now on Xbox Game Pass and will also be coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S later in the year.
