Bethesda fumbled their recent PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch ports for Doom, Doom II, and Doom 3 by requiring a bethesda.net login to play. Many players, especially on the Switch, will play games on the platform without an internet connection, so this requirement quickly sparked controversy. After all, these titles are all older titles that did not have this online requirement in the past.Well, the login requirement will soon be a thing of the past. According to Bethesda's Twitter account, the publisher admits that the login "should be optional" and was intended to reward Slayers Club members for playing the games. At this time, it is unclear whether Bethesda intended the login to be optional from the start, or if this is just damage control.

In any case, it seems a patch will fix the issue soon. Bethesda has tweeted that they will "update everyone when a fix is ready," and we will update you here at DualShockers as more information becomes available. Doom and Doom II available across iOS, Android, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One, while Doom 3 is just available on consoles. Check out the trailer highlighting them all below.
