Developer id software and publisher Bethesda Softworks have released a new update for DOOM that unlocks all current DLC for the small price of absolutely free! The latest update also brings some progression changes to the multiplayer component of DOOM. In addition to unlocking all DLC for free, the game is having a free weekend on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. During the free weekend the first two campaign levels and all of DOOM multiplayer and SnapMap can be played for free. The free weekend starts today and will end on July 23, 2017.

The revised progression system makes changes to when and how players unlock additional guns, demons, equipment, and all player and weapon customization options. Rather than relying on the random unlocks, items will now unlock through specific leveling requirements or through in-game challenges that players can complete. However, the new multiplayer progression system will reset all players’ multiplayer level back to 0. The new update is not exclusive to PC players, all DOOM players can download the free update now.

Last week we reported that DOOM had surpassed 2 million copies sold on Steam, and it's easy to see why. The game received favorable reviews, you can read ours here, and it stayed true to the iconic formula of the series.

DOOM is available on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Players can pick up the PC version at a 50% discount this weekend on Steam, bringing the game down to the low price of $14.99.
