DotEmu Will Soon Be Closing Their Online Store to Focus on Developing and Publishing

DotEmu announced they will be closing their virtual doors on their online store that is home to thousands of retro games.

March 17, 2017

DotEmu revealed they will be shutting down their online store; After March 1st 2017 user won’t be able to buy games, but users will still have access to past games you purchased and after June 1st the store will be shut down completely.

The store’s digital shelves are home to thousands of retro PC games, all of them being DRM free. Coincidentally, this DRM free system insures that players can still play their games after June 1 if they have them downloaded before the close date.

The publisher details the reasons for the close:

Unfortunately, there are more and more companies that sell games on the online market, the competition is fiercer than it used to be. On the other side, it’s been now a few years that we’re focusing on the development/publishing of console and mobile games instead of distribution. This is the reason why we, DotEmu, have decided to shut the store down.

To download your games, please follow the steps below:

  • Go on the website : https://store.dotemu.com/user
  • Login
  • On the top right of your screen, you will find your profile
  • Select “My Games”
  • Select the game you want to install
  • Download and enjoy it!

However, the company still plans to publish and develop new games for PC, mobile, and console hardware.
