Over the last year or so, Microsoft has been buying up studios to help improve their game lineup. At today's Xbox E3 Press Conference, the company announced they have acquired famed developer Double Fine. Studio Director Tim Schafer then took the stage to reveal a new Psychonauts 2 trailer that you can check out below.

Double Fine is a big get for Microsoft. The studio has been steadily pumping out critically well-received indie games for a few years now. From 2005's original Psychonauts to 2017's Full Throttle Remastered, the team has given indie fans the kind of silly, quirky games that Double Fine is known for. The team has both RAD and Psychonauts 2 in the pipeline and I wouldn't be surprised if they don't get a few more up and running now that they have the backing of Microsoft.

It's cool to see Double Fine brought into the Microsoft family. They've been relying on crowd-funding for awhile now. In fact, they really kicked the whole Kickstarter craze off with their Broken Age project. It will be interesting to see what they do with the power of Microsoft behind them.

Psychonauts 2 and RAD are slated for release this year. Keep your eyes on Dualshockers for all the news from E3 this week. If you'd like to see Schafer's full statement on the acquisition, check it out below.
