Sony Interactive released its sales chart for PS4 games on the Japanese PlayStation Store related to the period between August 7th and August 13th.

Unsurprisingly, Dragon Quest XI is still dominating the digital scene for the third time in a row, like it’s doing with the physical retail scene in Japan.

Here is the full chart:

  1. Dragon Quest XI
  2. Dragon Quest II
  3. Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy
  4. Dragon Quest
  5. Minecraft: PlayStation 4 Edition
  6. Hitman: The Complete First Season
  7. Mega Man Legacy Collection 2
  8. Mega Man Legacy Collection
  9. Dragon Quest Builders
  10. Persona 5
  11. Resident Evil 6
  12. Resident Evil 5
  13. Portal Knights
  14. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered
  15. ACA NeoGeo The King of FIghters ’96
  16. ACA NeoGEO Zed Blade
  17. Touhou Genso Wanderer: The Tower of Desire Reloaded
  18. Resident Evil 4
  19. Resident Evil Revelations 2 Complete Season
  20. Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age

The Dragon Quest domination is pretty much across the board with Dragon Quest II stealing the second place from Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. The original Dragon Quest didn’t manage to get past fourth place, probably because everyone who finished Dragon Quest XI got a copy of the first game for free. Even Dragon Quest Builders pokes into the top-ten, probably revived by the announcement of Dragon Quest Builders 2.

Persona 5 also returns to the top-ten, while Capcom titles had a rather good week with both Resident Evil and Mega Man classics appearing heavily in the chart.

What is missing this week is Final Fantasy XV, that fell off the chart for the first time after the release of Stormblood, that kept it consistently in the top-ten since June 20th. I guess almost anyone that wanted the game and the expansion in Japan has them by now.

You can also check out last week’s chart, for the sake of comparison.

Dragon Quest XI shipped over three million copies in a week, and we recently learned that it actually sold more on PS4 than on 3DS, at least as of the beginning of August (probably in no small part due to digital sales). The game is currently available on both PS4 and 3DS in Japan, with a Nintendo Switch version also coming.

A western release is planned for next year, but platforms have not been officially announced just yet.
