Square Enix held the Dragon Quest X Matsuri event on October 30, with new details on the Japan exclusive online RPG, and series main creator Yuji Horii teased new announcements for 2021. As the event was about to end, with everyone sharing some words of thanks, Yuji Horii said there are several announcements in store for the Dragon Quest series' 35th anniversary.

Yuji Horii: "Dragon Quest is celebrating its 35th anniversary next year. I think we'll have several announcements for that. Including new ways to enjoy the world of world of Astoltia. I hope you'll keep supporting the series".

Astoltia is the world of Dragon Quest X, meaning the announcements of 2021 will include news on DQ X as well.

You can watch the segment with Yuji Horii's message at the 9:25:11 timestamp:

Maybe you still remember, but in January 2020, Yuji Horii said Dragon Quest XII wouldn't be happening soon. But that we'd get other things in the meanwhile. Only time will tell if Dragon Quest XII will get announced for the 35th anniversary in 2021 or not.

The latest main console game, Dragon Quest XI, has sold over six million copies when including its improved version Dragon Quest XI S. Which is also coming to PC, PS4 and Xbox One on December 4. Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition is already on Switch.

Square Enix recently revealed a mobile game, an arcade game, and a console game for Dragon Quest Dai no Daibouken. Dragon Quest Producer Ryutaro Ichimura mentioned back at TGS 2020 in September that there's still a long way ahead before the console game, Infinity Strash Dragon Quest Dai no Daibouken, gets released. A new Dragon Quest Dai no Daibouken anime started airing in October 2020.

In Japan, there's also a Pokemon Go like Dragon Quest game titled Dragon Quest Walk. It's currently celebrating its first anniversary.
