The Dragon Quest series is continuing to build with the release of titles such as Dragon Quest VII and VIII on 3DS in the West and the recent release of Dragon Quest Builders a few weeks ago, while the upcoming Dragon Quest Heroes II will only see a PS4 release in the West next year, according to Square Enix.

Following Square Enix’s confirmation that Dragon Quest Heroes II will be heading towards a Western release in April 2017, Square Enix Japan Studios Community Manager Dan Seto provided a bit more clarification that only the PS4 version of the title will be coming West, after fans questioned whether the PS3 or (especially) the game’s Vita version would release as well.

Specifically, Seto addressed fans on the PlayStation Blog that the Vita version of the game will not be heading towards release in either North America or Europe, as Seto plainly stated that “the Vita version just isn’t a viable option for us to localise and bring over,” while hoping fans will “still give the PS4 version a chance and enjoy it all the same.”

Dragon Quest Heroes II originally released in Japan earlier this year for PS4, PS3, and PS Vita and was officially confirmed for release in the US on PS4 in April 2017 – however, it seems the title will solely be exclusive to PS4 for Western audiences.

Dragon Quest Heroes II will release for PS4 on April 25th, 2017 in the US, followed by its launch on April 28th, 2017 in Europe.
