Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry’s Wonderland SP is Bringing the 3DS Remake to Mobile Devices

Square Enix is releasing Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry’s Wonderland SP, an enhanced port of the 3DS game, on iOS and Android tomorrow.

Some of you Dragon Quest fans may remember Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry’s Wonderland 3D. It was a Japanese-exclusive 3DS remake of the Game Boy Color title known in the west as Dragon Warrior Monsters, which is the first game in the Dragon Quest Monsters series. Japanese fans in Japan will have another chance to try the remake out soon though, as Square Enix announced Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry’s Wonderland SP, an enhanced port of the 3DS remake, for iOS and Android today.

People won't have to wait long either, as the port releases tomorrow, November 7, for a price of 1,600 yen. That being said, the price will go up to 2,400 after one week. Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry’s Wonderland SP was announced during the Dragon Quest Monsters 20th Anniversary “Coming-of-Age Ceremony” livestream. During this livestream, Square Enix also confirmed that a new Dragon Quest Monsters game is being developed for consoles, which will surely please fans of this sub-series.

Gematsu was able to translate parts of the livestream and give us a better idea of what enhancement we can expect from Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry’s Wonderland SP. It will include features present in several Square Enix mobile titles like "auto-battle" and "effortless journey," but also brings "dozens" of new monsters, a new area, some new skills, and asynchronous player battles to the table.

Dragon Quest Monsters games focus on capturing, breeding, and raising monsters to fight for you instead of traditional character-based combat, so newer fans from Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age may want to keep that in mind when going into Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry’s Wonderland SP. A lot of new fans will probably be coming into the series as well, considering how well Dragon Quest XI has done. In the west alone, it managed to have strongest launch of any Dragon Quest game by far.

At this time, there is no indication that Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry’s Wonderland SP for iOS and Android will come west. Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry’s Wonderland 3D never did, so the mobile game's fate in terms of a western release is up in the air.
