Back in March, Chromatic Games successfully crowdfunded Dungeon Defenders: Awakened, a new entry in its renowned multiplayer tower defense series, via Kickstarter. Since then, the campaign has received a steady string of updates along with the consistent promise of a Closed Beta for backers and those who pre-ordered the game. Today, the developer revealed that Dungeon Defenders: Awakened's Closed Beta is set to begin on November 22.

While Dungeon Defenders: Awakened is coming to PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, this Closed Beta is limited to PC. That being said, it already gives players access to four characters, five gameplay modes, and fifteen different maps. The core gameplay loop is the same as in other entries, with players building structures and fighting off waves of fantastical enemies.

Dungeon Defenders: Awakened is supposed to call back to the series' first game in many ways. The plot has players trying to stop the old ones, who are directly trying to undo the events of the original Dungeon Defenders. As such, some maps do return; albeit, they are redesigned and many new ones are featured as well.

Chromatic Games also clarified the release windows for all versions of the game. Dungeon Defenders: Awakened will hit PC and Nintendo Switch first sometime during February 2020 while PS4 and Xbox One versions will follow in Q2 2020. It is worth noting that the game does feature cross-saves, so you don't really need to worry about what platform you decide to pick Dungeon Defenders: Awakened on.
