CCP Games has announced that on January 22nd DUST 514 will go into open beta and will be free to download for PlayStation 3 owners.

On Janaury 10th, CCP was able to successfully merge DUST 514 and EVE Online on the Tranquility server of the EVE  Universe. Using their New Eden server, CCP will be able to bring together two games that will be able to communicate and affect each other in various ways.

Gamers involved in the closed beta will be happy to hear that as of today there will be no character resets planned, so all experience earned and shots made will count. Gamers still have a chance to sign up and get into the closed beta before the open beta officially begins.

Players will also be able to purchase the Mercenary Pack through the PlayStation Store that gives players access to 40,00 Aurum and various in game items for $19.99 with all items purchased rolling over to the Open Beta. Players in the closed beta will also receive a 100,000 skill point bonus in the open beta.

This is a great opportunity for EVE fans or gamers looking for a unique FPS that can determine the outcomes on a galactic scale to try out the game and get some nifty bonuses. Until then gamers can wait for the 22nd to jump onto DUST 514 when it opens up to the masses.
