Open-world survival horror game Dyling Light 2 now has a three-hour playable demo available to PlayStation Plus Premium members. Dying Light released on February 4, so if you haven't played it, and you have a PlayStation Plus Premium account, this is your chance to get your first bite. The announcement came via PlayStation's official Twitter account, urging Premium members to "Explore The City by day and evade the deadly nightlife in Dying Light 2."

Additionally, a Twitter announcement from Dying Light's own Twitter page confirms that players who choose to purchase the game after their three-hour trial time is expired will be able to carry over their save data from the trial period.

The timing of releasing the free demo seems strategic, as a DLC expansion for the game, Bloody Ties, was originally scheduled for release next week but has been pushed back to November 10. This move may serve to both placate players who were planning on picking up the game and DLC at the same time and to build up the fan base with just under a month to go before the DLC's release.

The three-hour demo applies to both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions of the game. No information has been released as to how far into the future Sony will be extending the offer.

This isn't the first time in recent history that PlayStation Plus Premium has teased players with a short demo timer on a fully-released AAA title. As pointed out by PushSquare, the platform also served up a time-limited demo of Steelrising late last month, so subscribers who want to nibble at games before they make the commitment of purchasing them may want to look out for further updates from the service.

Dying Light kicked off as a series with its first title in 2015, adding a new take on the zombie survival horror genre by allowing players to parkour across the city to escape the hordes of the undead. In addition to PlayStation consoles, it is also available for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
