Earlier this week, the team at Bungie revealed a collaboration with Red Bull in a promotional campaign with new expansion coming to Destiny this fall, The Taken King - by providing a new exclusive quest and XP boosts for buying cans of Red Bull, response to the campaign was…polarizing, to say the least. However, the development team behind this year's Dying Light has been having a bit of fun with the idea.In response to the Red Bull-Destiny campaign announced earlier this week, the development team at Dying Light kicked off their own campaign, citing that they would be "jumping on the latest trend in game marketing!" and provide free bonuses and DLC by simply drinking…well, a glass of water.Techland detailed in its first teaser image that any users that tweeted a photo of them drinking water with the hashtag "#DrinkRightDyingLight" or "#DrinkForDLC" users would be provided with a free Premium Weapon Docket code: even better given that for the most part, water is free.

Given the huge response that the cheeky campaign has already received, the team at Techland also provided new stretch goals for its campaign, with more DLC being provided at 5K, 10K, 20K, 30K, 40K, and 50K in tweets supporting the "#DrinkForDLC" campaign. Luckily, the first stretch goal has already been met as of this writing, with more to come.

In the landscape of pre-order bonuses, Season Passes, and many of the other controversies surrounding DLC in video games, it's refreshing to see a more positive aspect of providing free content to users: and also reminding them to stay hydrated at the same time.

Dying Light is available now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
