Today Koei Tecmo released a new batch of gameplay trailers and new screenshots for its upcoming open-world Musou game Shin Sangokumusou 8, which will be released in the west as Dynasty Warriors 9.

First of all, we get a new trailer showcasing the freedom of action that we’ll have in the open world to pursue our objectives.

A new group of five character trailers also show more officers in action. Today the spotlight is on Yu Jin, Zhong Hui, Huang Zhong, Guan Ping, and Lu Xun.

New screenshots show the various horses that we can acquire. Players begin with a low-level horse, but better ones with improved abilities can be purchased at the stables found in cities and villages. Once you purchase a horse, you can select it at any time via the same stables. There are various colors available, including the iconic Red Hare. Riding on them over long distances and attacking enemies while on horseback will level them up.

We also get a look at the Scroll system. In order to craft items, a scroll listing the ingredients needs to be acquired. They’re normally divided into several parts, and those can be found by completing quests or defeating enemies. Once you have the scroll and the materials listed on it, you can craft the corresponding item, including rare weapons.

You can enjoy the assets below.  If you want to see more, you can enjoy the latest batch of character trailers, the most recent character reveal and the previous gameplay trailers, and an earlier drop of character trailers. Dynasty Warriors 9 will release in Japan on February 8th, exclusively for PS4. The western launch will happen just a few days later, on February 13th. In the west, we’ll also get two additional platforms: Xbox One, and PC.
