E3 2011: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 Coming Stateside

We’ve known for a while that Atlus was working on a sequel to SMT: Devil Survivor for the DS (not the 3DS), but now we know that it is, for a certainty, coming to North America next year. For fans of the first game, this is a welcome sight. I also sort of assume this game was in development long before the 3DS was finalized, otherwise it would have perhaps ended up on that system.

In SMT: Devil Survivor 2 you play a student who has an unlikely encounter with some form of alien life on the way home from school one day, and from then on you have to work to create bonds with these creatures, while at the same time keeping your friends – and yourself – alive through this otherworldly invasion. It’s out in July in Japan, and will hit shelves next year in North America, keeping the DS alive just a little bit longer.
