E3 2011: Snake Eater Trailer and Other Info Revealed

Konami had a pre-E3 press briefing yesterday and along with it revealed some information – including a trailer and screens – about Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater for the 3DS. Of special note is the unique way the game uses the cameras on the 3DS (likely the two forward-facing ones). You can use those cameras to give Snake some custom camouflage. Tired of his regular choice of colors? Spice things up a bit by putting your own color to it. One example given was that you can take a picture of a pink flower, and Snake will then be wearing pink camouflage. How manly is that?

In addition, the game will be using the device’s gyro controls to help Snake balance while walking across logs, rope bridges, tightropes and the like. This is pretty standard practice today, with the proliferation of iOS titles that use some form of an iPhone’s gyro sensor, not to mention the PlayStation 3’s DualShock 3 controller doing the same.
