Platinum Game’s newest title in the Metal Gear series, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, will be accompanied by some very interesting DLC, although it will not support online multiplayer modes. In a round-table interview at E3, Yuji Korekado, a producer for Kojima Productions, had this to say about both online play and the upcoming DLC:
Right now, we don’t have any plans for competitive online play or anything like that. However, we do have plans for some download content after the release of the game that will allow you to play as a different character or some new missions.
Both forms of DLC are fairly standard, but they nevertheless provide intrigue for the game. New characters are always a delight, and the mystery surrounding which ones will be accessible is certainly tantalizing. During the course of the conversation, Korekado also commented upon the updated gameplay, which is much more action-oriented that previous Metal Gear titles. However, the hope of Platinum Games is to smoothly integrate the action-packed Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance with the rest of the series’ story to make it feel like it is definitely a part of the series, even though it has a different feel mechanics-wise.
