E3 2013: DC Universe Online Playable at PS4 Launch, Will Be Completely Free to Play

By “completely”, I mean you don’t have to have PlayStation Plus to play the already free-to-download-and-play MMO. With it coming to the PS4 at launch that will give people a free game to play right off the bad. The visuals have been improved and are sharper on then new system.

Supporting itself through a “players have to buy more content but the base game is free to play” model, DC Universe Online has found its own niche on the PS3 and PC and the team behind it, as well as Sony Computer Entertainment, hopes to push that on to the next generation. A lot of content has been released since it’s launch about two and a half years ago – including seven DLC packs that are available now as paid content. Also, hitting on launch day will make it the first MMO on the platform, to be followed by Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn and The Elder Scrolls Online next year.
