E3 2013: Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Will Be Released on PS4

Rumors have been afloat for a while within the Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn community, but nothing was confirmed, until today.

During the Sony’s E3 press conference Square Enix officially announced that the upcoming MMORPG won’t just be released on the PS3, but also on PS4. It was mentioned as an “exclusive” (of course between consoles, as the game is still coming for PC), so the game won’t probably be released on Xbox One for the time being.

This is the logical next step for the developer, considering that the PS4 has been defined basically a supercharged PC and shares the same architecture. Bringing the game to Sony’s new console is only natural in order to widen its userbase, and MMORPGs are always in need of more warm bodies to crowd their servers.

If you haven’t played the first game, but you’re preparing to join for A Realm Reborn on the PS4, you may want to check out the eight episodes of my The Story So Far” story recap column, that will get you up to speed with the storyline events that brought to the rebirth of Square Enix’s MMORPG.

He is also one of the few surviving fans of the flight simulator genre on Earth.
