Hogwarts Legacy - The Story So Far

Fans first got a glimpse of Hogwarts Legacy back in 2018 when footage of the game was leaked online. But it wasn't until 2 years later at the PlayStation 5 showcase that Hogwarts Legacy was finally revealed to the world.

Although the initial trailer and gameplay looked to be everything we could have wanted and more, the game has found itself tied to a fair bit of controversy over the last year.

Troy Leavitt, a now ex-producer at Avalanche Software, was found to have had some rather controversial videos on his personal YouTube channel. Some of which include him defending GamerGate and individuals accused of sexual harassment. Leavitt has since parted ways with the studio behind Hogwarts Legacy.

It was announced in January 2021 that Warner Bros. Interactive had made the tough decision to delay the game until 2022. It's not clear if this was due to the departure of Leavitt, or if the game simply needed more time for polishing and improvements.

Players will experience Hogwarts as a student who holds the key to an ancient secret that threatens to tear the wizarding world apart. After receiving a late acceptance letter to Hogwarts, you come to realise that you possess unusual abilities related to ancient magic.

The game itself looks to be visually stunning with plenty of customisation options and things to explore. Hogwarts Legacy is set in the late 1800s and will allow players to create their own character and go on to learn spells, attend classes, explore a large open world, tame beasts, and master combat abilities.

Hogwarts Legacy will release in 2022 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Microsoft Windows.

Will Hogwarts Legacy Be At E3 2021?

So, will fans get a further look at Hogwarts Legacy at E3 2021, with possibly even some new gameplay?

Unfortunately, the answer is no, a spokesperson for Warner Bros. has recently confirmed to TechRadar that the only game being shown at the Warner Bros. E3 conference will be Back 4 Blood.

This announcement comes following the Twitter account for Summer Game Fest confirming the same details.

E3 will be kicking off on Saturday, June 12, but fans will have to wait a little longer to get a look at Hogwarts Legacy.
