EA and Jo-Mei Games Announce Sea of Solitude

Today, EA announced its second EA Originals’ (the first one was Fe from Zoink Games) game titled Sea of Solitude, an exploration adventure game from Berlin studio Jo-Mei Games.

As you may know, Sea of Solitude was first revealed earlier this year, but that was before EA decided to jump on board to help publish and develop the game.

EA Worldwide Studios EVP Patrick Soderlund had the following to say about the announcement:

“Like many of you, I saw the first glimpses of Sea of Solitude last year.  I was stunned by the intensity of the imagery and the emotional view into the universe of Kay, the central character…Its combination of beauty and rawness is unlike any game I’ve played before.

“The story of Sea of Solitude is unique and important. It is both beautiful and terrifying at the same time. The game is a great demonstration of the experiences that we want to help players discover through EA Originals. I cannot wait to share more about Sea of Solitude with our partners at Jo-Mei in the months ahead.”

Creative Director and Co-Founder of Jo-Mei Games Cornelia Geppert’s added:

“Sea of Solitude is by far the most artistic and personal project I’ve ever created. At times it is very challenging to dig that deep into your own feelings like core fears, longing and anger, but at the same time it is the most fulfilling thing to express those very feelings by putting it to people through art.”

Lastly, here’s an overview of the game if you want to know more:

When humans get too lonely, they turn into monsters.

This adventure is about Kay, who has turned into a monster and her journey to find out what happened to her.

On her search to change, she soon finds out that her biggest enemies are not the huge monsters that she meets on her way through the Sea of Solitude, but something way more dangerous.

Sea of Solitude currently has no release date. Further, it is unclear what platforms it will be coming to. However, you can check out the game’s first and only gameplay footage below (its from earlier this year), as well as the game’s first screenshots.
