Just about every Will Wright fan has taken the plunge to play his latest creation - Spore. I must admit that I had a meh attitude about the game before playing it and falling in love with the innovative design and execution. After a while, though, the game lost it's appeal as more attention-worthy games were spat out, and Spore went into a subconscious slumber forever to be forgotten by the perpetuating releases of console games that grasped my attention. That is until today, of course.

Maxis Studios, known for The Sims, has announced that their next project will be a brand new (sorta), Sci-Fi, Action-RPG based on the their Spore franchise, as per Comic-Con's show schedule:

6:00-7:00 Video Game Reveal: Maxis Studio— Maxis Studio (The Simsand Spore video games) has just announced their next project, a brand new, Sci-Fi Action-RPG based on the DNA of Spore. Join key leads from the dev team, Thomas VuPaul Sottosanti and Lauren McHugh, for the first game reveal to the public! Room 3

Am I excited? Like a baby at a topless bar. The franchise needed a little nudge, and I hope it's moving in the right direction. Then again, Maxis Studios creates games that tend to generate a pretty hefty following. However, to play it safe, I'll keep my fingers crossed on this one.
