EA Won't Make Star Wars Movie Tie Ins, Focus is On "The World that Has Been Created Around Star Wars"

November 21, 2013

EA will not be making movie tie ins with their Star Wars game license, the company’s  chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen said at the UBS Global Technology Conference.

The question came up in a discussion of the Star Wars titles that EA is working on. With the first movie of the new Star Wars series out in two years, some were wondering if EA would be responsible for any tie ins, especially given the company’s history in that area.

Jorgensen was quick to quell these ideas, emphasising that EA was looking to  explore the other parts of Star Wars’ universe.

The beauty of the Star Wars franchise is that it’s so broad and so deep, you don’t have to do a movie game, you can do a game that’s very focused on the world that’s been created around Star Wars.
