D3Publisher announced today with a press release that its upcoming action game Earth Defense Force 5 has been delayed.

The game was originally planned for a Japanese release in Summer 2017, but now that has been changed to simply "2017."

The reason for the delay is the usual formula used by Japanese publishers, "to further improve quality." Of course, this can mean a million of things, but we'll never really know.

In any case, if you were waiting for the game, the wait is now going to be a bit longer.

Earth Defense Force 5 is, for the moment, a PS4 exclusive, and if you want to see more about the game, you can check out the newest trailer (that incidentally comes with English subtitles), a large batch of quite recent gameplay, and a batch of screenshots showing air raiders and vehicles.

Despite the presence of English subtitles in a bunch of the game's promotional videos, no English localization has ever been announced or otherwise hinted.
