Earth Defense Force: Iron Rain Will Launch Exclusively on PS4 in April
Earth Defense Force: Iron Rain looks to finally be modernizing the series using the power of Unreal Engine 4.
The latest installment in the Earth Defense Force series, Earth Defense Force: Iron Rain, will officially be launching on April 11. Iron Rain looks to be the most refined title in the series to date; boasting new graphics, mechanics, and more. You can check out a new trailer down below.
A new class will be introduced in Iron Rain, the Prowl Rider. This’ll be the most versatile class in the series, allowing you to ride a giant ant into battle as well as use a new piece of gear called the “E-Needle” to grapple from building to building with crazy mobility. I’m definitely looking forward to giving this new class a go.
Like previous entries, you’ll have access to four classes, three of which will be very familiar to veterans. The Trooper, Jet Lifter, Heavy Striker, and Prowl Rider are all customizable, making it so you can really distinguish yourself on the battlefield. Earth Defense Force: Iron Rain will have the deepest customization in the series to date, with a set protagonist that can either be male or female you’ll be able to customize their appearance alongside whichever weapons, armor, and class you choose.
Splitscreen multiplayer will be included in Earth Defense Force: Iron Rain. Additionally, players will be able to go online in cooperative multiplayer missions for up to six players. But that’s not all, a new competitive multiplayer mode will be included that will support up to eight players. In this particular mode, players will compete to acquire Energy Gems.
There are two separate versions you can pre-order, the Standard Edition ($59.99) and the Ultimate Edition ($89.99). Pre-order perks include costumes, weapons, and more. Fans who opt for the Ultimate Edition can expect an exclusive mission that’ll launch shortly after the game releases, as well as a special weapon.
Earth Defense Force: Iron Rain will launch exclusively on PS4. For the first time in the series, the game is being developed using Unreal Engine 4.
